One morning, CUTIS realized Mom was still a little upset with him. Yesterday, he had accidentally used Mom’s favorite basket to carry mud, leaving it dirty and broken. Feeling guilty, CUTIS scratched his head and thought very hard. Saying “sorry” felt too simple, so he decided to do something extra special to make Mom smile again.
CUTIS went to the garden and found a tiny tree sapling. With a serious face, he announced, “This will be my apology tree!” He grabbed a small shovel, but instead of digging properly, he dug crooked holes everywhere. The goat watched curiously, while BuEm laughed so hard she almost fell over.
CUTIS carefully placed the sapling into the hole, but it kept leaning to one side. To fix it, he tied the tree with colorful ribbons, banana leaves, and even one of his old socks. “Perfect!” he said proudly. Then came the funniest part—CUTIS whispered to the tree, telling it to grow fast and say “sorry” to Mom every day.
To make the apology even stronger, CUTIS poured water using a teacup instead of a bucket. It took many trips back and forth, and he slipped once, splashing water all over himself. Covered in mud, CUTIS still smiled, determined to finish his mission.
When Mom finally came outside, she froze in surprise. Seeing the decorated, leaning tree and CUTIS standing beside it with muddy feet, she couldn’t help but laugh 😂. CUTIS bowed deeply and pointed at the tree. “This tree will say sorry forever,” he said sincerely.
Mom hugged CUTIS tightly. The apology tree may not have been perfect, but it was full of love. From that day on, every time the tree swayed in the wind, Mom smiled—remembering the funniest apology she had ever received 🌳💖.
