All morning, Monkey Kaka wandered around the house with a quiet, thoughtful look on his little face. Usually he was full of energy—jumping from chair to chair, teasing the chickens, or searching for snacks. But today, something felt different. Dad had been away since sunrise, working hard in the fields, and Kaka felt an empty space in his tiny heart.
Every sound made him perk up—footsteps, the gate opening, even the wind brushing the leaves. Each time, Kaka rushed to the door, only to find no one there. He sighed, hugged his tail, and waited.
Finally, in the late afternoon, the familiar voice echoed from outside. “Kaka! I’m home!” Before Dad even stepped fully into the yard, Kaka launched himself toward him at full speed.
He wrapped his little arms around Dad’s neck, holding on tightly as if afraid to ever let go again. Dad laughed, lifting Kaka into his arms. “Aww, did you miss me that much?” he whispered, kissing Kaka’s head.
Kaka buried his face into Dad’s chest, snuggling deeper, his eyes half-closed in pure comfort. His little hands squeezed Dad’s shirt as if to say, Don’t leave me again for so long. Dad gently rocked him, rubbing his back in slow circles.
They sat together on the wooden bench, Kaka curled up like a baby, listening to Dad’s heartbeat. The warmth he had longed for all day was finally back. Dad talked softly about work, the ducks, and how he rushed home because he knew Kaka would be waiting.
As the sun set, painting the sky pink and gold, Kaka stayed nestled close, refusing to move. After a long day of missing his favorite person, there was no place in the world better than his dad’s arms.
